The Discontinued Product Stock Status plugin provides comprehensive global controls that allow store admins to manage how discontinued products behave and appear across the site. These settings help configure product visibility, messaging, pricing display, and automated logic for discontinued items.
Accessing the Global Settings
You can access the General Settings through either of the following paths:
- Click Settings directly on the plugin tile: Discontinued Product Stock Status Pro for WooCommerce
- Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Discontinued Products tab
This tab contains various configuration options to help you control the discontinued product behavior on the frontend.
Available Settings in the General Tab
Below are the settings provided in the General section, each giving admins powerful control over discontinued product display logic:
Import & Export Discontinued Products
This feature allows you to export the discontinued status of products from one WooCommerce store and import it back into another store. It ensures that products marked as discontinued on the original site retain the same status after migration. This helps maintain consistency during staging-to-live transfers or website rebuilds.
Automatically Mark Variable Product as Discontinued When All Variations Reach Zero Stock
When enabled, the plugin checks variable products and automatically marks the parent product as discontinued if all its variations run out of stock. This prevents customers from visiting product pages where nothing is available to purchase. It also reduces manual effort for store admins managing large inventories with frequent stock changes.
Show Price for Discontinued Products
This setting allows discontinued products to display their original prices on the frontend if enabled. By default, prices are hidden to avoid confusing customers into thinking a product can still be purchased. Showing prices may be useful for comparison or showcasing historical pricing information.
Hide Discontinued Products in WooCommerce Catalog & Search Results
When this option is enabled (default), discontinued products are removed from catalog listings, archives, and WooCommerce search results. This keeps the store focused on only currently available products. If disabled, discontinued items remain visible but clearly labeled as unavailable.
Apply Grayscale Effect on Discontinued Products
This setting adds a grayscale effect to discontinued product images, helping customers visually distinguish products that are no longer available. It makes discontinued products recognizable at a glance on archive pages and shortcode listings. This option only appears when discontinued products are still visible in the catalog.
By reviewing the global settings above, you now have a solid understanding of the essential configuration options. For additional customization and more advanced controls, you can continue exploring the Discontinued Products Stock Status Pro for WooCommerce Options menu to access the complete range of settings.
